From Switchback - overlooking "My" valley. I saw a herd of elk down there once.

Romans 8:32- "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free."

Suppose that on their wedding day, the bridegroom turned to his bride and said to her, "My dearest, I love you above every other person on earth.  Because I love you, you are free to do what you want.  Because I love you, you are free to go where you choose to go.  You are free to see who you want to see.  You are free to leave me, should you choose.  I will be waiting with open arms when you return.  And should you choose to never return, although I will long for you every day, I will still love you as much as I do today."

Suppose that on the day he was hired, the worker heard his boss tell him, "I have hired you to do this task.  The choice whether to do it is up to you.  Should you choose to perform this task, the rewards will be great.  Should you choose not to perform it, I will still keep you in my employ because I have hired you, and you will still obtain the benefits of being in my employ."

Suppose that in the day that he is jailed, the captor listens as his jailor speaks to him, "You are my captive.  There are no walls on my jail.  You are free to come and go as you desire.  The chains are yours to put on and take off.  Stay or leave, you choose."

Although all of these situations seem to be outlandish, they are real.  On the day that we accepted Christ Jesus as our Savior and the Lord of our lives, He became our bridegroom, our employer and our jailor.  And in our choosing Him, He set us free.

Free to do as we choose, free to follow His bidding, free to become our very best.  So, why do we willingly follow Him?  Why do we perform the task that seems impossible?  Why do we put His chains upon us?  Because we are free.  Because in the enslaving of ourselves, we are free.

Free in spirit, free in body, free in soul.  What a great love He has for us.

Ready to suffer grief or pain

Ready to stand the test

Ready to stay at home and send

Ready to go, ready to stay

Ready my place to fill

Ready for service lowly or great,

Ready to do His will.

                                -A.C. Palmer & Charles D. Tillman-

Oh, my dearest Lord.  I thank You that You set me free.  I thank you that You took all of my burdens upon Your shoulders and only ask that I follow You.  As impossible as that seems, I know that You are all Who You say You are, and can do all that You say You can do.  Thank You for Your mercy, thank You for Your grace.  Amen.
