We've had record rain this year up here in these parts. In addition to the record rain, I traded my nice big chainsaw away last year to someone who hasn't come through on his end of the deal. He was supposed to deliver 10 cords of wood, instead he's delivered excuses.

| Two Face and the last log. It was big! |
|
| I do have a smaller chainsaw so I wasn't worried about it, plus, at the time, I wasn't planning to be living back on my property, so it sounded like a good trade at the time.
But, like I said, he hasn't delivered, and I have been living on my property since the end of April. Why not? Winter is over. Yes, there is no electricity, and yes, it's a little inconvenient, but I own it outright and absolutely love it.
When I moved up, things were still good. "Yes, I'll bring you the wood." I think he got lost.
|
Fortunately, there was about 1/2 cord of cedar left by my tenants that I could split. Lovely, lovely cedar. It is so easy to split and burns so warmly and smells so good. I love cedar. If all the wood I ever had was cedar I would love it.
But, alas...1/2 cord of wood doesn't last long when the nights are chilly and it's used for all cooking and to boil water for dishes, laundry and bathing.

| that one log delivered over a day's worth of wood! |
|
| I've been cleaning up the mess left by my tenants and visiting my parents and teaching Bible School and taking a week long rafting trip and this and that and the other thing....you know....enjoying life.
One day I realized that I needed to cut some wood. So, I set out to do so. I live in the woods. There is a lot of wood in the woods. Right? Right. So, I cut some and dragged some back to the cabin.
Did I say we've had a lot of rain?
|
All (or most) of the wood I had was wet from the record rainfall. Wet wood burns, but not hot; most of the heat is used to dry itself.
Yesterday, I was trying to warm the chill out of the air in the cabin, as well as make oatmeal and coffee. My water got hot, but not boiling and it wasn't very warm. I was reading my Bible and starting to fret. Then I said, "God, You say in Your word that You will provide my needs according to Your riches - You own everything, and I need dry firewood. I trust You to provide it."

| My wood burning stove (that's my "bedroom" back in the alcove) |
|
| A few minutes later, a truck pulled up with 3 friends of mine. They brought me a week's worth of firewood AND....a leg of lamb.
All my need....and then some.
He makes no excuses, He just delivers. Awesome.
