                   A Gem Worth Finding

Proverbs 31:10 - "Who can find a virtuous woman?  for her price is far above rubies."

I looked up the word "virtue"in Websters, it read, " (1) conformity to a standard of right: morality  (2) a particular moral excellence  (3) active power to accomplish a given effect: potency (4) manly strength or courage

A "virtuoso" is someone who excels in the technique of an art.

Someone who is virtuous is a person having or showing virtue and especially moral virtue.   I love the 3rd definition.  A virtuous woman has power – potency to accomplish what she sets out to do knowing that she has the moral excellence to carry herself with dignity.

It's hard to find a truly virtuous woman these days.  We are bombarded by the sexual symbols that "man" has decided is the goal of all woman.  TV, magazines, billboards, etc show a woman who has got looks and shape to please the eye, but very rarely do we find the wonderful inner qualities that God is looking for.

Strength, honor, morality.  Our great-grandmothers had it.   Going about the business of living and taking care of their families, they didn't have the time to go to the gym.  Their goal wasn't their own pleasure, but rather the bringing up of their children, attending to the needs of their husbands; their fulfillment was found in the attitudes of their families.

We are missing some of this today.  God looks at the inward man He sees our hearts.  A virtuous woman is a woman who uses His strength as her own, His beauty adorns her with grace.

2 Peter 1:4-8 - "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.  And besides this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance; patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Who can find a virtuous woman?  Jesus Christ does, and then He molds her and forms her into His image.  Her price IS far above rubies because He gave His life for her.

God bless.

"Lord, I forget sometimes that Your price for me was Your Blood, poured out to stain the dirt below You.  You washed away my uncleanness to make me virtuous in the eyes of Your Father.  Jesus, forgive me for my forgetfulness.  Help me to be a virtuous woman in deed.  I love you Lord."
