The Virtuous Woman Series, Part 7

Consider This

When I read this, a number of thoughts go through my head, and those thoughts have changed over the years as I read more and more.

My first argument used to be for the working woman. It is obvious that this woman has some money. She buys a field!

However, in looking at everything up to this point, it's clear why she has the wherewithal to be able to purchase this field.

Proverbs 31:16 She considereth a field and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

She trusts God. She has her priorities straight. She takes care of her family. She finds the best quality for the best price. When all of these are added up, she has some money to invest for the future.

"She considereth a field and buyeth it..." I looked up the word "consider"...

  1. think, ponder
  2. heed, regard
  3. judge, believe.

This isn't a rash decision. She thinks about it, she looks at all of the angles of why this is a good field. She questions whether it would be a good investment. She spends time on her knees speaking with her Father. She talks it over with her husband.

After careful study, she knows in her heart that this is a good field to plant the fruit of her hands. A good field to invest her time in.

The harvest will be great.

Maybe the field that God has in store for you isn't acreage. It could be that He is asking you to plant your seeds in the mission field. It could be in a day care. Maybe your field is giving your time to a nursing home.

Consider your field, purchase it and then work in it. What a woman!

Dear Father, thank You for opening Your truths to us. Thank You that Your Word lives, and lives in me. Father, I ask that as we go through our days, let us - let ME - think things through, and talk to You before makng a decision.  Thank You for Jesus, Who gives us the victory in Him.  In His name I pray. Amen
