The Virtuous Woman Series, Part 4 Willing Hands

Proverbs 31:13 - "She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands."
We talk with our friends on the phone and the 'net. We know what's going on with everyone around us. The Days of Our Lives are spent avoiding All My Children. The dishes are in the sink growing their own form of food, the laundry is crawling out of the basket, and the dust bunnies are playing in the cobwebs.

Let me tell you about my mending pile. It used to be about 3 feet tall. I finally went through it and eliminated some of it. Mended some, cut some up for rags, cut some more up for quilts that I ended up making for my sons.
The family joke was...if you have something that needs mending, throw it on the pile and forget about it. It's not that I don't like to sew, I really don't know how. And the things that I DID mend, and the boys would rip right back out, so I grew discouraged.
| But, God began laying it on my heart that money I had been spending for new shirts, pants, etc had been misspent because there are clothes in that pile that could be sewed and reused. Some of it couldn't.
Am I willing to work with my hands? When I look at this verse, I think of the materials used....wool and flax. Linen for cooler weather, wool for warmer. She really took care of her family.
So, maybe this verse isn't about sewing. It's about priorities. My friends are important, but God gave me a family to take care of. A family for whom to work willingly. A family in which to invest my time.
The Days of My Life will vanish away. All My Children will move on. But Our Guiding Light remains strong and firm.
What am I doing with my hands?

Father, help me willingly work with my hands. Help me remember that my priorities should be the same as the ones YOU have designed for my life. Thank You for not only being a God Who forgives, but also a God Who helps. Thank You for what You are doing in my life today. Amen
